How can we push beyond what a simple fishing hook can be?
It All Started With a Boy.
Back in 1856, a 16-year-old boy of the Zhan family manufactured BKK’s very first hook.
The young teen didn’t know that his small action would be the driving force that would make BKK the high-quality company it is today.
From very small beginnings.
Rusting hammers and crunching pliers, metal sticks everywhere. A bunch of rudimentary pieces of machinery and a grinder to sharpen edges. And smoke, a lot of it…
Tangled fishing lines hung on the walls. Water lapped on the river bank out the front, and people gathered on the porch to purchase fishing hooks in the small, bustling port of Poyang, China.
This was the tiny workshop overlooking the river where the 16-year-old boy of the Zhan family manufactured BKK’s first hook in 1856.

BKK Hooks is now one of the most trusted fishing brands globally.
Today, the BKK factory employs roughly 600 people, we have an office in Japan and an office in Shanghai managing international sales, marketing, and branding.
An devoted passion to fishing drives a committed team of anglers from New Zealand, Europe, China and Southeast Asia in the research, creation, and testing of what we believe are simply the best hooks you can choose, created by anglers, for anglers.
Our passion for fishing is the real driving force that allows us to truly meet the needs of elite anglers from around the world.
That very first workshop – in ruins, partly flooded – still stands, still with its original sign reading 出售各种鱼钩 – we make every type of fishing hooks.
